East End Appalachian
Jam

This public facebook group promotes and coordinates Old-

Time jam sessions and related events in the Pittsburgh Pa. region. Created in 2010, it currently has over 400 members.

The Fiddle Hangout mission is to become the most comprehensive fiddle resource by bringing the world's fiddlers together with powerful community-building

tools created  for musicians, by musicians.

Membership is easy, and enables you to browse many diverse forums on topics that vary from Music Theory, Playing Advice, Fiddle Building, Buying, Selling and Trading, and more.

Particularly interesting is the member group centered around Samuel Bayard, this is a focus for discussion and information about his collection of SW Pennsylvania tunes.

Friends of American Old Time Music and Dance

FOAOTMAD is the UK organisation promoting American old-time music and dance.

This public facebook group is for people interested in the oldtime "mountain" music from the USA. Pre-bluegrass stuff. Stereotypically banjos, fiddles and rocking chairs on porches. Old rural music generally but let's not get too bogged down.

Created in 2009 the group is nearly 3,500 members. There's plenty of friendly discussion on good music, and events in the UK, as well as posts about festivals here in the states.
